Are you planning a vacation to Vietnam for your family this year? However, you have not yet made your decision due to many reasons. Of course, budget is one of the concerns you can’t forget. To help with this issue, I have some tips to help you have a great trip while saving money during your vacation in Vietnam.

1. Travel During the Low Season

If you are a smart traveler, you should find information about the low season at your destination. This way, you can save a lot of money on accommodation, food, tour services, and more. There will be fewer tourists during the low season, so it will not be crowded, and travel agents will have an easier time booking services for you.
The weather in Vietnam can be quite complicated, so the low season will vary in different destinations. For example, fewer foreign tourists visit Hanoi from May to July because the weather is quite hot. During the rainy season (from October to December), not many tourists visit Hue. Sometimes, you may even have the chance to get discounts or “special offers” during the low season. Therefore, you should check with a travel consultant for more information before your trip.

2. Stay Updated on Discount Tours from Travel Agents

I completely agree that shopping around is a good strategy for foreign tourists if they are not too busy. Time is money. However, there is a way to save both time and money: I advise you to keep up to date with information from reputable travel agents. Social media at travel agencies is developing rapidly, so it’s easy to subscribe to newsletters from blogs, Facebook, Twitter, or the official websites of trusted travel agents.

3. Share Your Budget – The Smart Negotiating Approach

Do not hesitate to ask for a better deal that matches your budget! As a travel consultant, I encourage our clients to share their budget so we can provide the best services within their means.
You might always ask for the cheapest option, while travel agents generally aim to maximize their profits. Without open communication about the details of the services, both of you will not be able to meet halfway. A good travel consultant will tell you which services you can skip to save money while still ensuring you have a good trip. While the tour price is usually fixed, telling your budget may help you ask for a lower price that fits your needs.

4. Reduce Accommodation & Transport Costs

The price of your package mostly depends on the cost of accommodation and transport. So, to lower the price of your trip, you need to make smart choices when it comes to accommodation and transport. Make your flight reservation as soon as possible. For accommodation, keep in mind that 3-star hotels may be smaller, but you can still find great hotels at a reasonable price. Also, hotels located near local attractions tend to be more expensive than those situated a few blocks away.

5. Book Early

If your trip dates are set, do not delay booking with the travel agent you’ve chosen.
Some of the best deals are available when you book early, not at the last minute. Most tour operators and cruise companies offer discounts for early bookings. If you have a specific travel date or destination in mind, it’s better to book early and secure your vacation rather than waiting for a last-minute deal that may or may not happen.
