2001: Established
After two years of vision and meticulous preparation, Footprint Travel was founded, setting the stage for tailor-made and responsible travel experiences in Vietnam.

2004: Partnership with Caritas Switzerland
Collaborated to create community-based tourism (CBT) in Quan Ba, Ha Giang, promoting sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

2006: Expanding Eco-AdventuresBecame the first pioneer to introduce trekking and cycling experiences to Pu Luong Nature Reserve and beyond, opening these pristine regions to eco-conscious travelers.

2007: Investing in Traditional and Green Tourism Invested in two traditional cruise ships for Bai Tu Long Bay and collaborated with Indochina Junk to launch the “For a Green Halong Bay” initiative, championing sustainable tourism in the region.

2008: Supporting CBT in Van Ho, Son La.Collaborated with SNV Vietnam to develop community-based tourism in Phu Mau Village, enhancing local capacity and tourism offerings.

2009: Co-Founding the Responsible Tourism Club Took the lead in establishing a platform to advocate for and promote responsible tourism practices across Vietnam, encouraging collaboration even among industry competitors.

2010: Venturing into the Global Stage Made the bold move to enter international markets, gaining global recognition by showcasing innovative and responsible travel solutions at trade fairs in London, Berlin, and Singapore.

2014: First Investor in Pu Luong Nature Reserve Became the first investor to initiate the Puluong Retreat eco-lodge, co-investing with the local Thai minority to establish Pu Luong Valley Home, promoting community benefits and sustainability.

2016: Travelife Certification After years of dedication, Footprint Travel achieved Travelife certification, becoming the first local travel company in Vietnam to do so, showcasing our commitment to sustainability.

2018: Model of Responsible Tourism Selected by SSTP – Swiss project for sustainable tourism as a model to showcase responsible tourism practices in Vietnam.

2019: Increased Local Revenue Directed 18% of company revenue into local communities through investments in homestays, local guides, food, and transportation.

2020: Reaching a Milestone of 100 Supported the involvement of over 100 rural and remote villages in Indochina, empowering them to participate in sustainable tourism development.

2021: Marking 187 Community Service Projects Collaborated on 187 impactful community service projects, supporting local economies, health, conservation, and education, reflecting our commitment to sustainable tourism.

2022: Sustainable Tourism Achievements – Successfully achieved full recovery post-pandemic, resuming operations while continuing to support local communities.
– Awarded the Platinum Certificate by SSTP for outstanding sustainable tourism practices, reflecting our commitment to responsible and impactful travel.

2023: Sustainability Leadership – Became the official Vietnam partner for the “Refill My Bottle” project, reducing single-use plastic waste.
– Appointed as national expert for product development in Quang Nam tourism by the Swiss ST4SD development fund.

2024: Future Growth and Global Expansion – This year, marking 64 partners from more than 20 countries, Footprint Travel has strengthened B2B partnerships, serving as a trusted local destination management company (DMC).
– Successfully planted 1000 trees to restore the natural landscape of Hang Kia – Pa Co Nature Reserve, reducing CO2 emissions, preserving biodiversity, and promoting a sustainable future for the region.
