Footprint Travel’s Earth Day: Taking Concrete Actions for a Greener Planet

by Footprint Team (22 November, 2024) - Events

As Earth Day approaches, Footprint Travel proudly reaffirms its dedication to environmental conservation and sustainability. This year, our focus revolves around the theme “Planet & Plastic,” highlighting two key initiatives aimed at reducing plastic waste and promoting reforestation efforts.

1. Refillmybottle Project (RMB):

At Footprint Travel, we recognize the significant impact of plastic bottle usage on the environment. To address this issue, we reactivated the Refillmybottle project (RMB) to raise awareness and encourage behavior change regarding plastic bottle usage among the public and our customers. Through RMB, travelers can easily locate refill stations for their water bottles, reducing the need for single-use plastic bottles during their journeys. We’re proud to share the practical evidence of our efforts. With 4372 refill stations established and 2204 bottles saved (estimated globally in 2019), the impact of our refillution system is undeniable. These numbers show the power of collective action in reducing number of plastic waste and preserving our planet’s precious resources. Especially in Vietnam, the positive sign is that since the relaunch of our project in the middle of last year (6/2023), we have recorded the addition of 36 brand-new stations within just six months.

Indeed, our commitment doesn’t stop there. We are actively working to integrate sustainable practices into our tours, with a specific focus on reducing plastic bottle usage. By implementing refill stations at strategic locations along our tour routes, we aim to minimize plastic waste and promote eco-friendly alternatives.

Moreover, we extend an open invitation to tour operators and travel arrangements worldwide to join our initiative. By collectively establishing refill stations, we can amplify our impact and inspire widespread adoption of sustainable practices across the travel industry. Together, let’s make a meaningful difference in preserving our planet for future generations.

2. Tree Planting project:

In addition to our efforts against plastic pollution, Footprint Travel is also committed to reforestation efforts. This year, we have set a target to plant 1000 trees in the Hang Kia – Pa Co nature reserve area. By planting trees, we not only contribute to carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation but also support local communities and ecosystems. As of now, we have successfully planted 200 trees, and we will continue planting another 200 trees in the upcoming phase.

Through these initiatives, Footprint Travel strives to make a positive impact on the planet and inspire others to join us in our journey towards a more sustainable future. We believe that by working together, we can create meaningful change and preserve the beauty of our planet for generations to come.

Join us this Earth Day as we take action to protect our planet and reduce our environmental footprint. Together, we can make a difference and build a more sustainable world for all.
