Earth Hour is fast approaching on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 8:30 PM to 9:30. This is a chance to celebrate our gratitude to our mother planet as well as think about our impact on her. While turning off the electronic appliances, we not only save money on energy bills, but also focus on activities outside. These are advises from Footprinters and their plan to enjoy this year’s Earth Hour, instead of sitting in the dark.
Being awarded as 2016’s green person, Hien shared her tips: My family and I plan to go for a picnic at the park to get close to the nature. I can teach them about the trees. Other than that, who else doesn’t love picnic. We can lit the candles and spread out a blanket on the glass. My children loves picnic treats like sandwiches and potato cheese balls.
Son: Spend more time with my family. I usually work overtime, so there isn’t much time to play with my children. This time is to make up for them.
Tam: My family and I will have an organic meal under the light of the candles. Healthy eating is all I want for my family.
Huong: I love my plants and I just learnt how to make organic compost at home for my garden. In the dim light of the candles, it’s a good time to quietly watch little green shoots started to appear after 2 weeks of using organic compost.
Tra: I will make a resolution to reduce my carbon footprint. The hardest thing is not to use plastic bag when I go to the local market.
Hang: I will practice yoga with my children. This is a moment for appreciating the brilliant world we all share, and how we need to protect it. Nothing is better than using this time to pursue a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle.
Hanna: This year, I’m going to spend my time with my children. Since we are in the dark, we need to something fun and creative for the children. Maybe making creature shadows on a wall with a flashlight and your hands.
