Nha Trang Has Changed – Practicalities To Concern
Well known for beautiful white sand beaches, Nha Trang has felt overwhelmed for the past few years. The number of Chinese tourists has dramatically been increased for the past few years overtaking Russia as the largest market. However, as the numbers of Chinese tourists suddenly increase, Nha Trang's tourism has faced many issues to maintain the development of sustainable tourism. If you plan to go to Nha Trang, there are things that you should keep in mind.
Practicalities
Travel Experience
The local authorities try their best to make sure that all of you travelers from other different markets can experience the beauty of Nha Trang to the fullest and are equally respected. However, there have been several tourist cases acting in a disrespectful and inappropriate manner from pagoda to food court. The tourist code of conduct has been applied to help visitors act in ways that are viewed as respectful by the host country and even other travelers. However, this requires the coordination among all parties actively involved including local authorities, investors and tourists which haven’t been done effectively.
Personal Service
As China now is the largest market, most of the service providers such as hotels, restaurants, tour operators, etc. has only focused on one certain market which is Chinese market. During the peak time of Chinese tourists, there have been a number of hotels which only except Chinese tourists. But even so, the room occupancy rate for 3 - 5* hotels is sometimes up to 100%.
Additionally, Nha Trang tourism have struggled to fulfill Chinese market’s demand while maintaining the standard requirement for other foreign markets. Some local firms has come up with a solution by creating a "Chinese only" area to seperate Chinese tourists from other markets.
Local Aspect
Nha Trang has become more touristy and crowded than ever before. Peaceful quiet Nha Trang has been replaced by modern city flocked with resorts, restaurants and bars. Most of the benefits go to not-so-local investors’ pocket, instead of the local one.
Footprint’s Nha Trang Tour Updates
We don’t want to see Nha Trang as a resource to be exploited, but as our dearest place to be protected and celebrated for its uniqueness. Hence, we won’t suggest you to go to Nha Trang or Sapa. We don’t want another paradise lost its special atmosphere due to mass tourism, so the idea of conscious travel is needed to develop.
